MIND IN MOVEMENT

ABBD Alumni Justine Wang has curated life coaching sessions utilizing her B.S. in Psychology to combine psychology with dance. She hopes these sessions will offer students peace during these uncertain times, as well as a new perspective on movement. In addition to her one-on-one sessions, she also launched a podcast, Mind in Movement, which is available now on Spotify.

ABBD:
Tell us about your new program!
JW: Mind in Movement is 1-on-1 life coaching sessions that focus on psychology and dance. These sessions include (4) 1-hour sessions over the course of a month, and include psychology methods that center around emotional intelligence, self compassion, and communication.

ABBD: What is the inspiration for starting 1-on-1 sessions?
JW: I understand that many people are stuck at home due to COVID and may have extra time to reflect on their relationship with dance. I hope to use these sessions to offer new insight, as well as empower students to gain a deeper understanding of dance from a psychological perspective.

ABBD: Tell us about your podcast.
JW:
The podcast is called Mind in Movement as well, and I speak about psychology concepts, my experiences in life and dance, and will feature interviews with inspiring guest speakers. I want to be able to amplify other’s stories and demonstrate the strength of humanity.

ABBD: Any tools/insights you gained from ABBD that inspired you?
JW: ABBD in general gave me the inspiration behind creating Mind in Movement. Seeing Sorah be able to combine both business and dance inspired me to combine psychology and dance. The biggest thing that ABBD did was help me recognize that I had something to offer and that I can make change in the world regardless of what my perceived status is. I also gained a deeper understanding of my unique contribution. I actually submitted this idea as my business final and received really good feedback. All in all, I’m happy to have had this experience because I attribute ABBD as my why/how for being able to create my own impact.

ABBD: How can students find more information & sign up?
JW: If you have any questions or are interested, students can email mindinmovement2020@gmail.com to set up a free 15-30 minute consultation. You can also reach out via Instagram by sending a DM to @justine.wang or @mind.in.movement.

Mind in Movement is a one of a kind experience that focuses on empowering and educating students on psychological concepts that are relevant to a dancer’s journey. After running her first program in October, Justine took some time to reflect and restructure her program. She recognized her strength in connecting with students on an individual level and wanted to embrace that skill moving forward. If you are interested in gaining tools on how to navigate through your mental relationship with dance, email mindinmovement2020@gmail.com to set up a free consultation. Also, Justine’s new podcast, Mind in Movement, is now available on Spotify!
